Practice Areas
We take a focused set of cases and we take them seriously. If what happened to you fits one of these, call us. If you are not sure, call us anyway.
Our primary focus
Sexual Abuse and Assault
Survivors of sexual abuse and assault can hold the people and institutions responsible accountable in civil court, separate from any criminal case. This is the heart of our practice. Laurie Koller has practiced law since 1991, and today her work is focused on survivors of sexual abuse and assault.
We bring claims against the person who caused the harm and against the employers, schools, churches and organizations that failed to protect you. We talk with you early about privacy, including whether filing under initials or a pseudonym may be possible in your case. Read more about how a civil sexual abuse case works.
What we handle
- Childhood sexual abuse
- Institutional abuse (schools, churches, organizations)
- Adult sexual assault
- Abuse by a person in a position of trust
- Abuse by doctors and medical providers
- Abuse in nursing homes and care facilities
You do not have to have reported it. You do not have to have told anyone. You can still call.
Personal Injury
When someone else’s carelessness leaves you hurt, you should not carry the cost of it. We represent people injured in car and truck wrecks across Oklahoma, and families who lost someone they love.
Insurance companies start building their side of the story right after a wreck. We gather the police report, medical records and photos, and in truck cases we look at the trucking company’s own records too. We keep you updated and explain each choice before you make it. See what to know after an Oklahoma wreck.
What we handle
- Car wrecks
- Truck and 18-wheeler wrecks
- Wrongful death
- Drunk and distracted driving crashes
- Company and delivery vehicle wrecks
- Other serious injuries caused by carelessness
Do not give a recorded statement to the other driver’s insurance company before you talk to a lawyer.
Victims of Crime
A criminal conviction does not pay your medical bills or make up for what you lost. Victims of violent crime can often bring a civil claim against the person responsible, and against businesses or property owners whose negligence allowed it to happen.
A civil case runs on its own track. It does not need a conviction, and it does not always have to wait for the criminal case. Many of these cases involve negligent security: broken locks, dark parking lots, or a property owner who ignored earlier crimes. Learn more about civil claims for crime victims.
What we handle
- Negligent security
- Assault and battery
- Attacks at apartment complexes
- Attacks at hotels and motels
- Parking lot and shopping center assaults
- Harm at schools, daycares and care facilities
You can pursue a civil case whether or not the criminal case has ended, and whether or not there was a conviction.
How a case works
What happens after you call
Every case is different, but the path is the same. We explain each step before it happens, in plain language.
01
Free consultation
A private conversation about what happened and whether we can help. No pressure, no obligation.
02
Investigation
We gather records, talk to witnesses and work with doctors, counselors and other professionals to build your case.
03
Demand and negotiation
We present your claim to the other side and negotiate for a fair result. Many cases resolve at this stage.
04
Trial if needed
If the other side will not do right by you, we are ready to take your case to a jury. Laurie Koller has tried over 100 cases.
Consultations are free and confidential
Talking with us costs nothing and does not commit you to anything. We explain how fees and case costs work, in plain language, before you decide. Prefer Spanish? Laura Martinez, one of our attorneys, speaks Spanish and can talk with you.
